First, you must turn the water off to the shower valve, which usually means shutting down the water to the whole house. Then take off the finish cover cap, and use an allen key or screwdriver to remove the set screw located on the side of the handle. After the set screw is completely out, you can pull the handle off.
Then remove the sliding finish cover over the faucet body shank. Youll see a brass circular ring thay screws on the faucet, use a firm grip to unscrew the brass ring, and then use pliers or a flat head screwdriver to pry the cartridge out. Youll notice a small notch in the brass body of the valve, where a small plastic tab on the Delta Monitor cartridge inserts in one way. Make sure to install the new Delta Monitor cartridge into the valve body the correct way, so that the plastic tab and the slot fit together.

After installing the cartridge, reassemble the trim and handle and turn the water back on.
